We are looking for a highly skilled RF Application Engineer to join our NPI Multi-Market team. This team of RF Power Application Engineers is located across Smithfield (USA), Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and Shanghai (China). Collectively this team designs demos and reference designs complemented by design-in support to customers in the Multi-Market segment. These demos and reference designs target different application areas like ISM, Healthcare, Broadcast, Radar, and Mobile Radio. The location of the RF Power Application Engineer position can be either Nijmegen or Toulouse (France)
This role requires a deep understanding of advanced RF power amplifier architectures, including complex, high‑efficiency topologies such as Class-E/EF2. You will be challenged by optimizing efficiency, linearity, gain, and thermal performance. And you will bring hands‑on experience with key semiconductor technologies such as LDMOs and GaN on SiC.
Key responsibilities
- Design, simulation and performance measurements of advanced high performing demo boards.
- Define with the customer the key requirements for their specific reference design and design and evaluate this reference design accordingly.
- Technically support our customers to ensure a successful integration of our products in the customer environment. Key support to give is on: RF performance, thermal design, reliability and product lifetime, product consistency.
- Address and solve with the customer their most complex system issues.
- Writing Application Notes on specific features and usage of our products.
- Do detailed benchmarking of our products against competing products to further determine our competitive edge.
- Based on customer interactions propose and define innovative products to meet market trends and maintain our competitiveness.
- Actively build and maintain a network of contacts in own and related fields to gain and share knowledge.
- Professional active participation in customer visits at the Ampleon site and at the customer site.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant RF design experience
- Power amplifier design, PCB layout, prototyping, troubleshooting
- Impedance matching for (broadband) power amplifiers
- Understanding specifics of all Classes of operation and ability to design them
- Physics of semiconductor devices
- RF simulation tools like ADS/MWO and 3D EM simulation
- All regular RF equipment and measurement techniques
- A proven track record, demonstrating completion of multiple successful complex integrations of products in customer application environment
- Ability to analyze and resolve highly complex technical problems independently
- At least a master’s degree in electrical engineering with specialization in RF Power & Microwave
